Your Contribution Brings Education to a Child’s Doorstep

Reading Program

Reading is central to DSS’s philosophy. We believe that once the FLN goals are achieved, the children who can read should be encouraged to read books . The love for reading is fostered at community level, in schools and with children in School on Wheels, making sure that each child finds joy in reading, indirectly elevating the literacy. This includes,

  • Establishing school libraries and reading sessions.
  • Enhances competencies in listening, vocabulary, expression, punctuation and comprehension.
  • Fosters joyful reading habits from a young age.
  • Setting up Reading Fairs and Competitions
  • Tracking of reading habits

For older children we have Home Lending Programme (Ages 5–7) which encourages independent reading by giving young children access to age-appropriate books.

  • Children choose books independently.
  • Sessions conducted fortnightly by trained facilitators.
  • Builds confidence and autonomy in reading.
