We are working!
Digital exposure is essential for future opportunities. Computer Centres offer children hands-on experience with technology in a comfortable learning environment.
Bal Samuha groups nurture leadership and agency among children (Grades 5–7) and community youth.
Many children growing up in vulnerable environments face complex emotional, social, and psychological challenges that can significantly affect their learning and overall development. At Door Step School (DSS), mental well-being is recognised as essential to a child’s ability to learn, cope, and thrive.
Through our Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programme, DSS provides structured, age-appropriate support to children who may be at risk of developmental or emotional difficulties. Our trained counsellors work with children through both group-based and one-on-one sessions, helping them navigate stress, trauma, behavioural concerns, and challenges arising from unstable living conditions.
The programme also focuses on prevention and early intervention. DSS conducts workshops, awareness sessions, and creative activities to build awareness around mental health, emotional expression, and resilience among children. Early identification mechanisms help flag children who may require additional support, enabling timely and appropriate intervention.
Recognising the critical role of adults in a child’s ecosystem, DSS invests in capacity-building for teachers, coordinators, and field teams, as well as municipal school teachers, to help them better understand children’s emotional needs and respond with sensitivity and care. DSS collaborates with expert mental health organisations to deliver sessions in both school and community settings, and facilitates referral services for children who require specialised or long-term support.
Through this integrated approach, Door Step School aims to create safe, supportive environments where children are better equipped to overcome adversity and grow into confident, emotionally resilient learners.
