Quest Science Quiz

Door Step School in partnership with Quest Science and Math Lab had organized a quiz competition for its children on the 14^th of March. Door Step children thoroughly enjoy their time at Quest and had been preparing for this competition along with their teachers for the last two months. The Door Step School staff was looking forward to this event too as it was the first of its kind. A lot of research went into selecting and short listing the questions/candidates for the quiz. Mrs. Malati Kelkar (founder of Quest) and her staff provided support in formulating questions, designing the quiz rounds as well as sponsoring snacks for all.

Children who have been regularly going to the Quest lab were picked to participate in the event. For each age group (grades 1, 2 and 3 in one group and grades 4 and above in another) two groups of about 13 students each were created.

On Sunday the event began with the two quiz masters (Deepali and Deepali) welcoming the students, staff and guests. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp followed. First to begin was the junior group. During the “Chit Round” each student had to pick out a chit from the bowl and ask the corresponding question to a student from the other group. Simultaneously the question was displayed on the LCD projector for the audience to view. The children were very enthusiastic and knew most of the answers. The quiz masters did a good job of keeping the audience members engaged in the competition. The chit round was followed by the quiz master round. Both the groups did well and more than winning it was the participation that mattered. Each participating child went home with a certificate.

During the break, snacks were served to all the students and guests. Before starting with the senior group, Mrs. Kelkar gave a small speech and got the students revved up for the next round of questions. The senior students too enjoyed their quiz competition and had very clear and succinct answers to all the questions. It was evident from all the children’s faces how much they enjoyed this event and how much they have learned from their time at Quest.

Everyone went home with smiles on their faces. All their hard work made this event a big success!
